Sencha is Japan’s most popular type of green tea and accounts for 75% of the tea produced in the country. Sencha is available in different qualities which are marked by terms such as jô = fine or tokujô = extra-fine. A delicate sweetness, balanced by a mild astringent taste is typical for Sencha.
In this category we also present Fukamushicha and Kabusecha. Fukamushicha comes from tea leaves that have been steamed 2-3 times longer and has a richer and deeper fragrance and a milder taste. Kabusecha is also called half-shaded tea since the tea bushes are covered with special nets for ten days before the picking. These tea leaves have a stronger aroma.
